K lite codec full.
It's really a very good all round media player but the only problem here is that there's no repeat button or is there ?
Pros: Easy to use,consistent performance and never hangs or crash at all.This is a very robust and the best fail-proof player.(I have used VLC , Splayer, DA player, FLV player, Free Smith and others i forgot their names-they all hang/crashed/freezed every once in a while.
Cons: No repeat (loop) button and dull looking..Quite invasive as it automatically sets itself as the default player.

Does not work on Windows 2000.
I downloaded this expecting it to work on windows 2000 as it states in the download section. It gets 95% through installation and then gives and error stating that I need XP. Waste of time and now I probably have spyware on my computer.
Pros: none
Cons: does not work on 2000 as stated.

This version is very nice and more detailed. I really like that player and it can read most of video and audio codes.

i have downloaded quite a few free programs, but this little beauty does all it says it does, i used the software in
conjunction with my WMP, i run vista home basic on my laptop, no problems works a charm, the best free software on the softonic site to date, just take your time when installing the program to get the best results, ENJOY..
Pros: upgrades your existing player easily and you have instant viewing of all your downloaded movies..
Cons: none i could find

novice.
i'm a novice. i did get a headache from installing K-Lite Codec Pack... 99% of it i did not understand ;)... i tried reading all of it but failed... i just chose default and check every box that is permitted and viola its finished. and now i can use my windows media player...the video and audio are clear but sometimes the picture would slow or stop and after couple of secs will continue but the audio is okay...

Wow, This really works.
for years I've wanted to stop the "needs codecs" messages within wmp. I haven't used wmp in years. Now working perfectly. I'd still love windows integration so we could have preview pics in the explorer. very surprising. The options are a bit over the top, but useful if you're really into video.
Pros: It plays mkv in windows media player. period
Cons: too many options and It asks you to change your home page to their own. tisk tisk.

Worked instantly after installation.
Everything worked perfect, have had codec problems for awhile and I've used other programs but they weren't easy to get to work properly. With K-Lite it installed easily and a few check marks in the proper boxes and BANG! It's running in backround now and I don't even know it's there.Thanks.DS

K-lite codec pack my personal opinion.
Of course K-lite codec pack is powerful tool for moview codec decode, but when you download movies from the internet, is very vital this fact that is your codec up to date? For example here I have download K-lite with version 4.90, so try to always check newest versions: http://www.video-codec-pack.com. Also you can download just video codec, for example popular of them are FFDShow, Xvid and Divx video codes, it is not codec packages, it is separate video codecs, so also hold you hand on pulse :) Pros: All in one it's speaks for itself, but in the same moment it is weak point, because not always you need to install all codecs and tools.
Cons: Almost no.

A Must For Windows Media Player Users.
If you use Windows Media Player, this is a must have. It allows you to play just about every kind of video or DVD on Windows Media Player without the need to pay for codecs or the need to install another program solely to watch videos and DVDs on.
Pros: - Allows for DVD Play
- Allows for 99% of video play
- Constantly updated and maintained
- Completely Free
- Integration into Windows Media Player
Cons: - The change from full codec updates to partial updates is annoying
- Isn't a 100% guarantee to work (specially if you tweak your system)
- Pre-checked media player during installation

Very good, but problematic.
Ever since I came across it I've been using it, and ever since then there was always something not working properly.
The last one 4.45 or 4.62 (can't remember which) developed problems playing "old" OGM files and MP4s too, while the older one played them fine. I generally use it together with BS player, and when that doesn't work with MPC.
But seeing as some common files don't always work i keep 2 backup programs, namely VLC and Mplayer, whicch have (contain) there own codecs. Never tried CCCP, maybe i should...
Pros: Easy to install, just select "lots of stuff" and that's it.
Plays just about everything, most of the time.
Best codec pack I've tried so far.
Cons: Doesn't play 99% as stated, a bit unstable, very hard to configure (it's easier to reinstall it and configure it then, like setting the DivX codec to decode DivX files instead of ffdshow)

Nice shortcut.
If you constantly strugle to get the numerous video and audio formats to work on your computer, than K-lite is probably the best solution for you. Experts will probably prefer to grab individual codecs so that their systems don't get overloaded.
Pros: Simple solution to an anoying problem
Cons: The full pack includes a ton of codecs you may never need
